With many scam sites today, how do we make sure that its legitimate and not a fraud?

What are the things to check in a company to know that they are not a scam?

Usually, before joining a company which charge membership fee (or any money for any reason), I will do research first to find what other people say about the site. Scam.com is a good place to start. Also, don't forget to check the site on BBB.

I usually will search for the site name and add SCAM after it when searching. This will bring you to a bunch of links. They are usually blogs that people have started because they were scamed by that certain site.

I would stick with the sites we all know are legit, like amazon and overstock. There is nothing worse than ordering something and realizing you have been scamed.

You are correct cjben, we could check the websites by adding scam after the domain name.

But then again the internet is a free world where everyone can say what they think about. Saying this, there are websites that are against some good and legitimate websites. Example of this is Paypal. Many people are saying that Paypal is a big scam. I know that Paypal could sometimes be a pain in the buttocks but it is a legitimate company.

If a site doesn't give you contact information, it is a scam. If it isn't a verified site, I would stay away from it. I tend to stick with the sites I know are for real.

I absolutely agree that without a contact information, it means that the company is hiding something.

I also do that. There is so much information on the internets. Many people post on forums or write reviews and articles about scam sites.
