Default Running a forum
I notice now more web owners include forums in their websites. I think a forum is great tool to drive traffic to your website, provided that you choose a popular and highly demanded niche and promote your forum nicely.

Are any of you running a forum?

I agree with you that running a forum will help in driving traffic to your website. But then again, there are many forums in the internet that you have to compete with.

My question to those who have forums, how did you make your forums become busy?

They can be good or bad, most times when they are bad that I see, they are never maintained, over run with spam and there is no actual admin to take care of things. Other times, people forget that the forum is not a customer service hotline, example: hosting forums, clients come in expecting to have the same level of support as an actual support ticket would (no matter what hour of the night/day).

I agree with you about spam. I ever participate in a webmaster forum. That's a nice forum where I can learn and get much information. But recently the forum is flooded with spam (like 20 or 30 threads promoting medicines or adult products) in most sections. It seems that the admin is too busy to delete them and ban the poster(s).

No, I don't own a forum, but I have many blogs. Many people are allowed to leave comments on it.
