Default Click Fraud
This kind of online fraud is a bit complicated and the most affected are the publishers. You can check wikipedia for the details of this type of fraud.

Will the advertising company (example is Google Adsense) become part of this fraud because they also profit from the bogus clicks?

Adsense usually block those involved in this type of fraud so I don't think they'll become part of it. It's not worth to do click fraud in my opinion. You'll just get yourself banned.
