Hi,,
By having keywords in a domain name, Joe will do a lot more to help his site rank higher on the search engines than using his own name alone. What Joe needs to do is also register "plasticwidgets.com" or "plastic-widgets.com" and have those domain names point to the same site. A domain name with keywords embedded will do wonders, not only in achieving higher positioning on the search engines, but also in becoming more effective at informing a potential customer what the Web site sells. Now when a search is carried out for plastic widgets, Joe's Web site is more likely to be displayed, as the domain name contains a match for the searched item. "

Regards

I think it has a minor effect on SEO in most cases. For example, the site GuitarLessons.com is at the top mainly because of it's age. Of course, having the name helps. In fact, the site doesn't have that many backlinks (compared to other sites listed at the top for "Guitar Lessons") However, does the SEO effect (with few backlinks) come from the age of the domain or from the domain name? I think it's the age.

From the SEO point of view, it is always good idea to register a domain name which contains your keyword. However, some internet marketers prefer to promote their brand and then they must decide if they prefer better SEO results or higher brand visibility.

It has its benefits but nothing that can't be easily surpassed by other means of optimization. Simple link building with the use of proper anchor texts can beat domain names with keywords within them. Just do a simple google search for any keyword you want and you would prove this to be true.

Keyword on the domain name indeed helps to get a good page ranking. But don't forget that quality content of site should be the topmost priority before moving to any SEO strategies.

The keywords in the domain name is very useful to get the more prominent SERP in google. Keywords in a .com domain will colossally help your ranking. The most significant thing though is you content, it have to be high quality as well as informed frequently.
