Default What to do when Paypal asking fro TAX ID NUMBER
When you login to paypal ,
using your personal Paypal account, paypal suddenly asks you to submit your TAX ID NUMBER so they can submit your documents to IRS GIV

Tell us about your experience of what had happened afterward

Hi Michael,

What country are you in? If you are in the US you have to provide either your SSN or EID if you turn over more than $20k a year AND have more than 200 transactions. It's so the IRS can keep an eye on you, I'm afraid.

They also report to states that collect tax. Ouch. That one applies if you're in Hawaii, California, Montana, AK, NJ, and maybe some others.

If you are outside the US you just have to show your nonUS status.

If you don't comply they will probably stop you from receiving money, so there's no way around it. Multiple accounts probably won't help, either: they check.
