Default Benefits of having more than one credit card
Some experts say that it is better to have more than one credit card.

What do they mean? I don't understand what exactly the advantage is.

The main advantage is that you have a back up card if some of your card is stolen or lost. Also you can separate your expenses and it is easier to manage your money.

I agree with what lily have said. It is better to divide your expenses among the multiple credit cards that you have.

For example, you make one credit card for online expenses then a second credit card for your monthly bills and a third credit card for emergency purposes.

Why the need for many cards? If you're really decided on using credit card, having two is enough. One is the back up.

I got two cards and I think I am pretty doing well. Multiple cards means tracking more credits and sometimes this results to unpaid debts if failed to track. If you are not that responsible I suggest using one cc only for ease of tracking and payment. Besides, credit card is power and too much power may sometimes lead to huge debt.

That's basically the only benefit. You'll have a back up. But ask yourself if it's worth paying for two cards.

Just an update, I just cancel one of my credit cards which leaves me to only one now. I promise myself to be more financially stable and independent and this is my start for 2010.

Default Credit Card utility
While some people use Credit Cards for expense specific transactions as some people have already said above, some people 'shuffle' Credit Card balances between each other to maintain their liquidity.
Easy to say than practice but people do this to first save on the excess interest levied on Credit Card balances and secondly to manage their finances optimally.
