Default Meet the Star’s editorial board -
[img][/img]Andrew Phillips has been editor of the Star’s editorial pages since January 2011. Previously he was editor of the Victoria Times Colonist and The Gazette in Montreal. He has also been a writer and editor at The Gazette, CBC Television News, and Maclean’s, as well as business editor of the Star. He holds a degree in history and economics from McGill University and taught journalism at Concordia University.

[img][/img]Gordon Barthos, a member of the editorial board since 1994,]casque beats by dre, writes on Canadian politics, foreign affairs and defence. A graduate of the Université de Montréal (Loyola College) and Oxford University, he wrote for The Gazette in Montreal, opened the Star’s Middle East bureau and reported from Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Europe, Central America, Asia and North Africa.

[img][/img]Carol Goar has been a member of the editorial board since 1997. She served as editor of the editorial pages from 1998 to 2002. Since then she has written a column focusing on politics and social policy. She has also been the Star’s Washington bureau chief and national affairs columnist. Previously she wrote for Maclean’s, Canadian Press, FP News Service and the Ottawa Citizen. She is a graduate of Carleton University.

[img][/img]Kerry Gillespie began her journalism career at the Star in 1997. She worked for several bureaus, including City Hall and Queen’s Park, before joining the editorial board in 2008. She writes mainly about social policy and provincial affairs. She has degrees in history from the University of Calgary and in journalism from Ryerson University.

[img][/img]Jennifer Hunter has been a member of the editorial board since January 2011. She joined the Star in 2008 as foreign editor. She has worked at the Kingston Whig-Standard, The Gazette in Montreal, the Globe and Mail, Maclean’s and the Chicago Sun-Times. At the Sun-Times, she served on the editorial board and covered Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. She taught journalism at Ryerson University between 1989 and 1995. She has a master’s degree from Simon Fraser University (completed at the University of Chicago) and a degree in English Literature from York University.

[img][/img]Leslie Papp has been on the editorial board, specializing in municipal affairs, since 2003. He holds a master’s degree in modern European history from McMaster University and a journalism degree from Carleton University. During more than 20 years at the Star, he won a National Newspaper Award for enterprise reporting in 2000, and served on the investigative team, and as a reporter covering medical issues, labour and Queen’s Park.
