The best way I have found is to find out what works best
for you and your type of site. After you know what works
start testing the next method of promotion and nail that as well.

Blimey, they should just delete any post that starts with "Hi Buddy". Social media has it's place but it's not the be all and end all. The principal problem with it is that the quality of traffic tends to be very low compared to traditional search engine marketing.

Article submission is getting increasingly tough because of the poor quality of articles being submitted.

My suggestion would be finding people in related fields that you don't directly compete with and swap articles and links (not necessarily reciprocal). The personal relationships really do pay off because you get extra advice and support.

Site quality will help a hell of a lot too.
