Electronic Data Interchange (EDI): an E-Commerce Method
EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) may be defined as the electronic exchange of business documents in a standard, universally accepted format between trading partners (commonly known as sender/receiver) with minimum human interventions. It is nothing but the method of trasnferring structured-data by agreed message standards from one system to other by means of electronic-media (generally internet).
EDI is a fully automated method. The components involved in the EDI transactions are the Transaction Software (generally a web application) and an EDI Value Added Network (VAN).
